El Deportivo Pasto arrancó de buena forma su participación en la Mustang 2009, al conseguir un merecido punto, gracias al empate a un tanto obtenido frente al Medellín. Incluso, estuve cerca la victoria pero lamentablemente el equipo paisa consigió la paridad en los minutos finales del encuentro. Sin embargo, no deja der importante el resultado obtenido.
Pasto jugó de tú a tú en la grama del Atanasio. Cuestionable la labor del central Londoño, dado que a Pasto, no le pitaron un claro penal debido a una mano de Vanegas, y a Medellín le negó la misma posibilidad luego de una falta de Centurión contra Martínez.
Para la segunda parte, Pasto no se disminuyó y siguió en su intención de anotar. Y al minuto 66, en gran jugada entre García y "chicha" Centurión, el primero centra para que Ferley Villamil, de cabeza, derrote a Bobadilla y ponga cifras claras y merecidas en el tablero. Golazo, y se hacía justicia. A partir de ese momento, Medellín pierde el orden táctico y se lanza con todo en busca del empate; Pasto resisitó de buena forma esa embestida, pero finalmente al minuto 80, Martínez logra la paridad y le salva la tarde a su equipo, que a esas alturas, era pura ansiedad y ganas. 
Empate merecido para Pasto, pero queda esa pequeña sensación que pudo ser victoria. Lo cierto, es que el equipo cumplió y ratificó su buena pretemporada, y empieza sumando de visitante, aspecto positivo y que marcará diferencia en las próximas fechas, siempre y cuando se haga respetar la localía.
